Rangeland Readings

Preface:
This document is a compilation of selected articles from Rangelands, a publication of the Society for Range Management. This collection was assembled to provide a general background in rangeland ecology and management issues in Idaho and western North America. We hope that educators, students, land managers, and anyone interested in rangelands will find these articles interesting and informative.

The Idaho Rangeland Resource Commission identified the need for a collection of general rangeland information that could be given to those interested in learning about rangelands. The University of Idaho Department of Rangeland Ecology and Management decided that instead of creating new information, it would be more appropriate to use selected articles from Rangelands to accomplish this task.

Rangelands is a nontechnical journal by the Society for Range Management. Rangelands is designed as a place for general presentation and discussion of topics and issues in the field of range management. As such, it contains many articles that would be both interesting and educational for members of the public who have interest in rangelands. Copyright permission was obtained from the Society for Range Management to duplicate specified articles for educational purposes only. Profit cannot be made from the sale of this collection

To create this compilation, twenty years of Rangelands were read, and the most interesting and informative articles were identified and grouped into useful categories. These articles were selected on the basis of their subject area, their general interest level, and their relevance to current issues. There are many other good articles that pertain to the subjects presented here. For more information about the publication Rangelands, contact:
