Idaho Hunt Planner

Idaho Fish & Game has a great tool to use before you leave for your next hunting trip. Please take the time to learn about the land ownership and always ask first for permission to hunt on private land--its the law.

Idaho's land ownership pattern is complicated and not obvious on the ground.  Fences do not indicate land ownership.  Rangeland is both private and public land.  Oftentimes, the land ownership is mixed within one pasture.  This is because the private land is where most of the water sources (for both livestock and wildlife) are located.  When the settlers homesteaded Idaho, water was the key to survival.  Those decisions have defined the ownership patterns we live with today.  Be respectful of the land owner and ask for permission.Idaho land ownerhsip map
